Not a VW but worth a mention - there's a Proton going round painted up like the Blues Brothers ex-police car! I've seen it in Blyth, Cramlington and along the A19 just after it joins the roundabout with the spine road.
Even has brush bars on the front! Could probably fit in the boot (sorry, trunk!) of the original:

Got to love the Blues Mobile ......cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant, cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it runs good on regular gas
